The LocalBiz Project has as its central theme the management of a community website, which combines social and business enterprise. The LocalBiz Project is a set of learning programmes, suitable for Key Stage 2 and upwards, built around activities which involve research, communication, risk assessment, creativity, and the use of ICT in business. In some programmes, students may work in teams and make real business decisions. You can take a look at examples of actual school websites or review ‘Demotown’ a community website showing a mix of News, Events and local Business listings that a school’s community website could feature.
The Whole School Programme: Involve as many students as you like from as many year groups as you like. "One School - One Project" truly embeds a real Enterprise activity into the school culture. "Embedding Enterprise" summarises how you can get started on this journey.
Students collect information about businesses operating in their community, events which are taking place, items of news,
and publish these on a ready-made, easy-to-use website which they promote within the community.
The ultimate outcome of the student’s activities is a vibrant community website.

The teaching support material has been carefully designed, is very flexible, and includes the ready-made and easy-to-use website. The evidence generated can be used to support a wide variety of accredited qualifications. It meets over half of the WRL requirements and makes a large contribution to Enterprise learning.
